APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN September 1, 2024 – September 5, 2024 (or until application limit is reached)
Please note whether you are seeking rental or utility assistance, we are unable to assist towards past due balances. Payment can only be made towards the current month’s balance. Example: If applying for assistance in the month of September, the only amount that can be owed is September’s balance. All previous balances MUST be paid off prior to submitting an application.

ALL DOCUMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REQUIRED. IF ALL DOCUMENTS ARE NOT SUBMITTED, AN AUTOMATIC DENIAL WILL BE ISSUED.
YOU ARE INELIGIBLE TO APPLY IF:

You have received rental or utility assistance from our agency within the last 6 months.

You have a past due balance.

You are seeking assistance with the first month’s rent.

You have a housing voucher or receive DHA/Section 8 assistance.

You do not live in the City of Garland or the City of Dallas.

You have already paid your September rent.
Accepted Supporting Documents
RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Photo ID/Driver’s License (all members of the household over 18 yrs. old).
Social Security Card (all members of the household)
Copy of Lease: 1st – 8 pages (Signed)
Proof of Income (Two Check Stubs)
Benefit Documents (Food Stamps, SSI, etc.) ~ if applicable
Late Notice & One Year Ledger
Financial Impact Documentation
(documentation on what has occurred that is causing you to need assistance)
UTILITY ASSISTANCE
Photo ID/Driver’s License
Social Security Card
Copy of Lease: 1st – 8 pages (Signed)
Proof of Income (Two Check Stubs)
Benefit Documents (Food Stamps, SSI, etc.)
3 Previous Utility Bills (Current and Last 2 Month's Bill)
Financial Impact Documentation
(documentation on what has occurred that is causing you to need assistance)
Photos & Screenshots from your phone will NOT be accepted. Please submit ALL documents in a PDF format. If you have documents in a hard copy, please utilize the following apps to scan your documents into a PDF format:

I’VE APPLIED, NOW WHAT?
Submitting an application does NOT guarantee funding. The timeline from application submission to funding is approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
Once your application is received, a case manager will contact you to schedule an intake interview. Once your intake interview is complete and qualifying documents are received and reviewed, Under 1 Roof’s Case Management team will process your application.
Due to the volume of applicants, there is no need to call to inquire on the status of your application. You will be notified of your application decision via email.
