Diversion Assistance Application Process

Under 1 Roof is committed to delivering diversion services that support families at risk of homelessness in avoiding shelter entry or unsheltered homelessness, and in regaining safe, stable housing as quickly as possible. This program is supported by a grant from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez of the Bezos

Day 1 Families Fund.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a family (household with children)

  • Be at imminent risk of homelessness (e.g., eviction within 14 days, unsafe living situation, discharge from institution with no housing plan)

  • Have no safe permanent housing available at the time of intake

  • Have verifiable income (be at or below 80% AMI)

  • Be willing to participate in monthly case management, home visit, and stabilization planning

  • Reside in or be seeking housing within Dallas or Collin County

YOU'RE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY IF:

  • Single Household (with no children)

  • Households already stably housed but seeking rental assistance support

  • Long-term subsidy needs without a stabilization plan

  • Your household’s gross annual income exceeds the above income limits.

  • Have no verifiable income.​

Gross Income Requirements

Please ensure your household's gross annual income does not exceed the 'Low 80% Income Limits':

ACCEPTED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

(If approved for an intake assessment, the following documents will be required)

  1. Photo ID/Driver’s License (All household members over the age of 18)

  2. Social Security Card (All household members)

  3. Birth Certificate (All household members)

  4. Proof of Income (All household members over the age of 18)

  5. Benefit Documents (SNAP, TANF, SSI, SSDI, etc.) - All household members over the age of 18

  6. Homeless Verification Documentation - Documentation verifying you are currently experiencing imminent homelessness. (ex: eviction notice)

I’VE APPLIED, NOW WHAT?

Submitting an eligibility questionnaire does NOT guarantee assistance. 

 

If ineligible: You will receive an email explaining the reason for the determination.

 

If eligible: A case manager will contact you to schedule an in-person intake assessment. Once your assessment is completed and required qualifying documents have been received and approved, Under 1 Roof’s Case Management team will begin processing your application.
